Nick Bosa: AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year

Outstanding Defensive Performance

Nick Bosa's San Francisco 49ers may have come up short in Super Bowl LVII, but his exceptional defensive performance did not go unnoticed. Bosa has been named the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, an honor bestowed by the Associated Press (AP) to the league's most outstanding defensive player at the end of each regular season.

A Dominant Force

Despite the 49ers' Super Bowl loss, Bosa's contributions were undeniable. The talented defensive end recorded 18.5 sacks, 48 tackles, and 25 tackles for loss throughout the 2022 season, showcasing his remarkable ability to disrupt opposing offenses. His relentless pressure on opposing quarterbacks and his exceptional playmaking skills earned him the prestigious award.

Voters recognized Bosa's dominance, with the 49ers star receiving 13 first-place votes and a total of 213 points. He edged out Cincinnati Bengals' Trey Hendrickson, who received 12 first-place votes and 195.5 points. It marks the fourth consecutive year that an edge rusher has won the award, following in the footsteps of Aaron Donald, T.J. Watt, and Myles Garrett.
